The series of tournaments will begin with the $100,000 buy-in Super High Roller that Viktor “Isildur1” Blom took down last year for $1 million.
From there the series will run the gamut of poker variants with No-Limit Hold’em, PLO and more obscure games like Open Face Chinese. Buy-ins start at $300 so there are events for players with bankrolls of all sizes.
Of course the showcase tournament of the PCA is still the $10,000 main event, which will run from Jan. 7-13.
A fixture of the tournament circuit, 2013 marks the 10th time the PCA has been held. Various winners over the years include pros Gus Hansen, Ryan Daut and Bertrand “ElkY” Grospellier.
Last year amateur John Dibella outlasted 1,070 players and then beat noted grinder Kyle Julius heads-up to claim the $1.7 million first-place prize.
