$10m Main Event, $5m Colossus Highlight 2015 WSOP Schedule
Poker players can start prepping their calendars for next summer as the World Series of Poker released some highlights of its 2015 schedule this morning.
The 2015 WSOP will run for 49 consecutive days from May 27-July 14 when the final nine of the Main Event will be set.
Three starting flights will run for the $10,000 Main Event this year on July 5, 6 and 7 and the guarantee for the winner will again be $10m.
Plenty of familiar events will return to the schedule including the $1,500 Millionaire Maker, the $111k One Drop High Roller, the $1,500 Monster Stack, the $1,111 Little One for One Drop and the Ladies and Seniors Events.
Joining them on the calendar is a brand new opening event dubbed "The Colossus" with a $565 buy-in and a $5m guaranteed prize pool.
Colossus Expected to Deliver Largest Field Ever
The event everyone is buzzing about already is one the WSOP expects to "deliver the largest field ever to play in a live poker tournament."
The lowest buy-in offered for a WSOP open event in 35 years will have two starting flights each day on Friday, May 29 and Saturday, May 30.
Start times are 10:00 am and 4:00 pm with a re-entry format (limited to flights not previously entered), 5,000 in starting chips and starting blinds at 25/50.
“We believe the WSOP is uniquely able to deliver the big event with life-changing money for some and a life- experience for all,” said WSOP Executive Director Ty Stewart.
“We are going to proudly stage the kinds of events which draw players from all around the world while also staying true to our heritage of contesting all variants of poker.”
The full 2015 WSOP event schedule will be released sometime in January but 60+ events covering a wide range of poker disciplines will be on tap. The $1,500/$10,000 two-tier stream of events will also return.
