$10k High Roller Added to PokerStars Anniversary

One more big event has been announced as part of the PokerStars 10th Anniversary celebrations - a special $10,000 High Roller tournament.

Set for Dec. 18, the same day as the recently announced $10m Sunday Million, it will have a $10,300 buy in and start at 3:30 pm (ET).

$500,000 is guaranteed for the winner.

High Rollers have become a standard both offline and online over the past few years as high-stakes pros look for even more opportunities to narrow the fields and increase their take home for going deep.

$10,300 buy-in tournaments have found their niche online in series like the World Championship of Online Poker (WCOOP) and Spring Championship of Online Poker (SCOOP).

In live tournament series the European Poker Tour has adopted a high-roller event at every stop and aroud the world buy-ins have grown from $10k up to $100k and even up to a $250k Super High Roller at the 2011 Aussie Millions.

A $1 million buy-in tournament has also been scheduled for the 2012 WSOP.

Hong Kong's David Steicke, the UK's Sam Trickett, the US's Erik Seidel and Germany's Phillip Gruissem in particular have seen a lot of success in high-roller events over the past couple of years.

To register for the PokerStars Anniversary High Roller tournament, open the PokerStars lobby, click "Events" then "10th Anniversary" and "All."

Also already added to the PokerStars Anniversary schedule are $1 buy-in world-record attempt for the largest poker tournament ever, a $1 million leaderboard and over $600,000 in freerolls.
