Review
Mike Sexton, former poker professional and host of the World Poker Tour, is cashing in on poker's newfound popularity. This book is a co-production of the WPT and Mike Sexton, who is often referred to as the Ambassador of Poker.
Although they choose to call the book The Ultimate No-Limit Texas Hold'em Guide, it is by no means ultimate. Indeed, it is lacking in poker theory and only addresses tournament strategy. Though the book does contain plenty of good advice as well as analysis of key WPT hands, it is not so great for those seeking to improve their technical game.
It is an easy and entertaining read that was clearly written with the broader and more mainstream market in mind. If David Sklansky's Tournament Poker is on one side of the spectrum, this book sits quite squarely on the opposite side.
The book also comes with a DVD containing WPT-produced material, for example, how to play Texas Hold'em and ranking of hands.
In total, it reads 197 pages.
